10 Promises From Psalm 23

What we have in Christ, our Shepherd:

1. Satisfaction

“I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1)
“but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again” (John 4:14)

2. Rest and Provision

“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.” (Psalm 23:2)
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

3. Restoration

“He restores my soul” (Psalm 23:3a)
“…the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” (1 Peter 5:10)

4. Guidance

“He leads me…” (Psalm 23:3b)
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth…” (John 16:13)

5. Righteousness

“He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:3c)
“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

6. Presence

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are will me…” (Psalm 23:4a)
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”” (Matthew 28:20)

7. Comfort

“Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4b)
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)

8. A Feast

“You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows.” (Psalm 23:5)
“And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”(Revelation 19:9)

9. Goodness and Mercy

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the day of my life…” (Psalm 23:6a)
“And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, ‘Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!'” (Matthew 20:30)

10. Eternal Life

“…and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” (Psalm 23:6b)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
