Look What My Hands Have Done

On the last day of National Poetry Month….

Look What My Hands Have Done

Look what my hands have done
In efforts to reach life
They’ve crucified the one

Who alone brings peace in strife

Look what my hands have done
Blood stained and unclean
I hear accusations as I run

“Your hands have killed the King!”

Look what my hands have done
Folded indifference as I stare
Apathy is not neutral ground

It was my sin that put him there

Look what my hands have done
Can they ever be made clean?
Could you, a Holy God, atone

For a guilty wretch like me?

Look what His hands have done
While nailed to the cross
Grasped with arms of grace alone

In love, he suffered loss

Look what His hands have done
Held the universe in power
Reached into hearts of wicked ones

Rescued in the darkest hour

Look what His hands have done
The record of debt torn in two
The law and its legal demands

No longer has a hold on you

Look what has hands have done
And see the King of Grace
With hands of faith cling to the One
Whose hands alone can save
