From a modern translation of the 1689 London Baptist Confession, Chapter 12- Adoption:

God has granted that all those who are justified would receive the grace of adoption, in and for the sake of His only Son Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:5 | Galatians 4:4-5). By this, they are counted among the children of God and enjoy the freedom and privileges of that relationship (John 1:12 | Romans 8:17):

  1. They Inherit His Name (2 Corinthians 6:18Revelation 3:12)
  2. They Recieve the Spirit of Adoption (Romans 8:15)
  3. They Have Acces to the Throne of Grace with Boldness (Ephesians 2:18)
  4. They Are Enabled to Cry “Abba, Father!” (Galatians 4:6)
  5. They Are Given Compassion (Psalm 103:13)
  6. They Are Protected (Proverbs 14:26)
  7. They Are Provided For (1 Peter 5:7)
  8. They Are Chastened by Him as a Father (Hebrews 12:6)
  9. They Are Never Cast Off (Isaiah 54:8-9| Lamentations 3:31)
  10. They Are Sealed for the Day of Redemption (Ephesians 4:30)
  11. They Inherit the Promises as Heirs of Everlasting Salvation (Hebrews 1:14 | 6:12)

C.H. Spurgeon:

Now go away, heirs of heaven, with light feet, and with joy in your countenances, saying, you know that you are his children and that he loves you, and will not cast you away. Believe that to his bosom he now presses you — that his heart is full of love to you; believe that he will provide for you, protect you, sustain you, and that he will, at last, bring you to a glad inheritance, when you shall have perfected the years of your pilgrimage, and shall be ripe for bliss, “As he hath predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.”
